Quiltlob - like the gentle rocking of a drifting boat ...

"...the rhythm of quilting rings to me. It is like a sedative, like the gentle rocking of a drifting boat as it nestles in the water. My hands move across the face of the quilt, stitching, tacking down the puffs and the billows, etching the patterns, lifting it into a third dimension. The softness is a silent pleasure. The feel is satisfying. When I finish my quilt, I lay it out on the bed or hang it high on the wall, and I run my hands across the surface. I smooth it and pat it down. I reassure it ..."
