First day of the future...

A very good

to everyone out there...!

To greet the new year, I´ve been making a
prayer flag sort of thing, using strips of
the reliable silently clapping hands print,
adding in very faint writing the words (from
a Willie Nelson song): my future tightly
clutched within those healing hands of
time...

And I plunged into my new long cloth...

Happy stitching...!

Well, I followed your advice... somehow (magically...?!) they turned out too big to match yours - but just the right size for this... a happy new year to you, too...

A very happy 2010, may all your dreams, hopes and wishes come true.

Thanks for the song, didn't know this one yet.

Have been stitching lately...sometimes I think it would be nice to sew something that just went on and on, I suppose it would need to go out of a window to make room for new additions...

Thank you, Elisabeth... and the same to you...! Susan, you have to watch The Last Stitch - no, the Last Knit it is... : www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6ZjMWLqJvM...

Thanks, ger...that was quite a little gem about art and obsession.

Oh, stitches and songs, what a brilliant combination :)
Happy new year!

The Last Knit is so funny! Susan's comment also makes me think of the scene in Like Water for Chocolate where the blanket (I think it was a blanket!) the main character's making goes on and on and on.

Your long cloth is off to a great start! I wonder how long it will get?

Thanks, Deborah + Deb... - that knitting lady is quite a character, isn´t she (she makes me think of Tilda Swinton...) - the cloth is going to be 1.75 m, as long as the scarf I used as a base...

I love prayer flags but can't bring myself to put them outside to disintegrate. Yes, there's something about those long cloths and that building bit by bit that is so appealing--maybe it's that feeling that they don't have to end.

They´ll disintegrate indoors, too, just slower than outside... ;) - building bit by bit, yes, + collecting stray bits + small pieces, integrating (!) them into one bg piece... best wishes to you, Robin...

I like new ways to start a New Year and prayer flags are a great idea!
Putting our thoughts in the wind...nice.

Yes... thanks!
