Did I want his late mother´s "Nähkästchen"
(sewing box), a friend asked me. Of course I
did - and am now proud owner of this commodious
sewing furniture...
... including an assortment of threads, buttons,
thimbles and such...
... and this fearsome instrument - which works
surprisingly well...

You are a lucky woman! What a lovely "bequest". The contents are as delightful as the container. You will enjoy it all.
Wonderful treasures!
lucky you!!!
I've always loved those sewing chests.....they make you want to peek into all the little nooks and crannies.... :-)
Thanks... I live on a street with several antique shops which sometimes display old sewing boxes - to judge from the prizes they ask, they know what they´re worth, so I´ve been very lucky indeed...
I have been the recipient of a neighbor's mother's sewing box (nothing as fancy as the table you rec'd)... nevertheless, it, too, was a great treasure!
What a treasure!
Such a wonderful friend to give such a gift. You will surely make his mother proud!
Oh lucky, lucky you! What treasure!
Lovely that you were the perfect person to pass this on to.
Well, time brings it all... it was sitting around unused in the basement for about 15 years since she passed away...
Oh how lovely! Something to feed the soul...
EXCELLENT!!
What a kind gesture and what a lucky lady - have fun with your new treasure!
It looks so well cared for...lucky you! The threads are little treasures and one can never have enough good scissors.
What a wonderful gift...to be treasured.
I just love all of the beautiful threads and bits and bobs in the drawers. What fun sifting through them.
Jacky xox
look at those gorgeous thimbles,
with such a story to them..
the hours
she must have spent,
the drawer is a story unto itself.
Thank you... I´ll cherish it...
What a lovely gift and nice for her scissors to still be used. I like your Henry James quote - good to remember each day.
