Fall-ing into line...
I´ve been showing these already, as two separate
mixed-media collages - but then I reconsidered...
... and connected them into one piece.
It´s made with pages from an old Robert Frost
paperback, and a blotch drawing.
I can see her saying these lines (to herself):
Then I arose and silently wandered home,
And I for one
Said that the fall might come and whirl of leaves,
For summer was done...
And here is another one I made, folding into a
kind of booklet - with a blotch female figure, too...
... which, from the back, looks rather like a male
figure...
I´m in the habit of picking up hand written slips
of paper I spot in the street, and have accumulated
quite a collection by now, so I decided to start
using some of it...

What a beautiful piece you made.
Have a lovely weekend.
I absolutely love these!
Oh yes, those 2 pages at the top really do go together, a small visual poetry book.
How interesting, that you are a handwritten scraps gatherer, whilst i am a hanky gatherer.
Ger i want to ask you - how do you call your work generally, like the small long cloth? is it a collage, or a mixed media collage, or an art cloth or art quilt or...? I'm having a conversation with another about various terms that we use, and also those we can no longer use such as possibly "complex cloth" even tho it describes the work rather well. Any thoughts on this? k.
I wish our dollar was worth more :) I'd probably but everything I see. Once again, wonderfulness.
Ooh lovely! And I really like the idea of picking up hand written slips of paper; when you said it, I realised how often I see them!
the two piece combined into one = perfect harmony. the colors are so subtle and gorgeous in all these pieces..they are all stunning! What a great idea to use discarded found notes from others!
The pack and the tags came.. they are breathtaking...thank you for the special tag Heike...it's gorgeous.. you've inspired me to get a free motion foot for my sewing machine. love all you do!
Love it, Ger!
such a wonderful light autumnal feel
I love these! And the collecting of handwritten paper--anonymous, but personal.
Fabulous mixed media! What a clever idea to pick up handwritten notes
as you walk about...
You always inspire me

found and pieced together so nicely
Thank you... I especially like unreadable ones, or in foreign languages, or trampled on, as the one I used here - or, very nice: with maps or such (might always be directions to treasure island...;)- diffucult to answer this, Kaite, I don´t know how to call it, really - in English, I don´t feel too well versed in the terminology, + it´s often rather drawer-like as well as ostentatious anyways - but in German it´s not easier, on the contrary, as what I do seems not very common around here - an example: a couple of times in the shop I just said about a piece how big etc. in th English version, but in German I said it was an Art Quilt - assuming I guess an english viever would figure out by her/himself what it is, while the local public´d need some gloze over... well, as soon as I realized, I stopped it - so, how SHOULD I call it?
Gefällt mir sehr gut!
so soft and beautiful. these make me want to start looking for papers too on my walks. i haven't done mixed media collaging before, but maybe i'll try one :)
Chapeau, Herr Graf...;) - yes, do that, hand written slips of paper might be among the kind of things that are bound to vanish from the face of the earth somewhen soon...;)
These are beautiful and personal artists books of the most precious kind.
Thank you, Leslie, I appreciate this compliment...
This is so beautiful--makes me want to get up close and examine all the little details.
Hey Robin, thanks...
