Old leaves, new ideas
When about 2 weeks ago I was talking about the
backyard chestnut tree already letting go of it´s
leaves, Kaite suggested I could steam some in bundles.
I had not been familiar with that method yet
(I´ve been wanting to read India´s book for a
while now, yes - but somehow found out that at
british Amazon it costs about a third of what
they want for it at the german version - so I
set my mind to buy it there, naturally, but they
seem to keep kicking me out whenever I try...)
Anyways, as the chestnut leaves landing on the
balcony are dull brown and very shrivelled by now,
I collected some other leaves - and here are
first results...

new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones."

silk?
great results. kaite has been leading lots of us in this direction. i'm awaiting india's book to arrive. so much to explore.
Silk, yes... + this piece is a bit more greenish in real life than it looks here...
i like the soft ghosty results--very evocative of age and autumn, my favourite season
i have india' book, you'll love it.
lovely, and very organic esp the way you have photographed it.
now try a new trick i thought of - soak your bundle silk in a weak vinegar solution first and squeeze it out so it's just damp...k.
I accidentally bought India's book twice. Would you like one of mine?
Such delicate imprints...like tiny, skeletal remains...quite wonderful.
Beautiful sensuous whispers.
a thing of beauty.
Ah, age + autumn, yes (if it weren´t for the arthrosis... ;) - actually, I just suffer from the smell of vinegar at the moment (hate the stuff...), having had the idea of getting a more blue blue out of logwood that way (which went ok once, but now no more...) + as I bought a bottle of vinegar essence yesterday, I´ll brave the stink + try, K, thanks... - + thanks to you, Sue! I´ll email you... + a very good (unstinking...) week to everyone...
I just picked up a copy of Eco Colour on Saturday, it was just released in a US edition. It is a beautiful and inspiring book. Should have some samples up on my blog today too.
oh my, such beauty in every single post. I love the quilt, the new project and the lovely fabric bundles. I am hoping to have a fabric bundle give-away on my 'it's free' page coming up soon, and maybe some in the shop, who knows!
Am getting ready for the next experimental art e-course and trying to do lots of making too . . . so many ideas!

Lovely! And it's soooo exciting when you open the bundles isn't it?
Love the leaf print.
I love the dyed fabrics...so much fun! :)
Thanks, everyone... yes, a lot of fun - but rather disappointing sometimes, too: today all the pretty beetroot red vanished into the sink, again (thought to outwit it this time, but ha ha...)
Pretty results. Beetroot should be such a lovely pink, but it just disappears. I read somewhere about just painting on the juice, and I have some paper hanging in my room that I did that too, but I suspect it will fade soon.
